Jason Cundy has made an interesting claim about Pedro Neto and his best route into Chelsea’s starting line-up.
Chelsea made several impressive signings in the summer transfer window, including the addition of Pedro Neto from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
So far, Neto has had a mixed start to his time at Stamford Bridge. In 11 Blues appearances across all competitions, he’s scored two goals and created one assist. Incidentally, the winger’s only started five times and is yet to complete a full 90 minutes.
Speaking via The Evening Standard a few weeks ago, Neto admitted he’s still pushing to find his best form in Chelsea colours. In fairness, we really enjoyed his eye-catching cameo performance in the weekend’s 2-1 Premier League defeat to Liverpool, where he definitely injected some extra pace and directness in attack.

Jason Cundy verdict on Pedro Neto
According to Jason Cundy, Chelsea’s Neto has the potential to force his way into the starting team at Stamford Bridge. He thinks that the Portuguese wide man, who can play on either flank, may apply pressure on left-winger Jadon Sancho.
Cundy told talkSPORT: “I think Pedro Neto’s best position is on the right, but I think he can challenge Jadon Sancho on the left… We saw Sancho [against Liverpool], Trent Alexander-Arnold had a brilliant game defensively, never really troubled him. As soon as Neto comes on, totally different kettle of fish.”
Pedro Neto’s time is coming
It’s Sancho and Noni Madueke that have emerged as Chelsea’s starting pair on the wings this season, but we agree that Neto could nudge either from the XI.
Neto proved for many years at Wolverhampton Wanderers that he’s capable of tormenting Premier League defences, although frequent injuries was an obstacle for him. Thankfully, his fitness hasn’t been an issue yet this season.
The left-footed attacker has such blistering pace both on and off the ball, so we’d love to find room for him in the Premier League team.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to us if Neto’s recalled to the starting line-up in Sunday’s league clash at home to Newcastle United.
