Chelsea made plenty of additions over the summer with the intention of immediately strengthening their side.

The addition of Jadon Sancho on deadline day seems to have gone down very well with manager Enzo Maresca, with him already being named in the starting side.

Competition for places in attack has never really been higher at Stamford Bridge, with a number of those who were already at the club also stepping up this season.

One of those is Noni Madueke, whose hat-trick against Wolves still stands out as their best individual display this season.

His good form has kept Pedro Neto out of the side up to now. Maresca confirmed the right wing is where he is looking to play the summer signing.

Pedro Neto says he is not at his best since joining Chelsea

Neto has now claimed that he has not actually been at his best since joining the club, although he promised he will arrive there soon.

He said to the Evening Standard: “At the moment, I’m not at my level, but I’m getting there. I know that I’ll arrive at my top form and I’ll enjoy it. I continue to work on my confidence, on my football, on the adaptation, and I hope to be [at full fitness] as soon as I can.”

Neto off the mark for Chelsea

Neto opened his account for the club in the Carabao Cup this week against Barrow, with him looking very impressive in his first proper start in his preferred role.

With the plethora of games in multiple competitions coming up, the first team squad will all need to be fresh and available to make their contributions.

One of the big concerns when Chelsea signed the former Wolves star was around his fitness, so perhaps the biggest boost up to now is that he has had an injury-free start to life at Stamford Bridge.

There will be few Chelsea fans who have been disappointed with what they have seen so far though, with plenty more still to come from the Portuguese star.
