TalkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy has been discussing the impact of Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson and Arsenal’s Kai Havertz in the Premier League so far this season.
There’s several players in the Chelsea squad that have started the 2024/25 campaign impressively, including Nicolas Jackson.
The 23-year-old centre-forward is proving he’s good enough to be the main man leading the line at Stamford Bridge. In eight Premier League matches this term, Jackson has scored five goals and created three assists.
Speaking recently on his own podcast, David Seaman claimed Jackson is proving people wrong.
Meanwhile, former Chelsea star Kai Havertz is now the main frontman for London rivals Arsenal. The 25-year-old German is finding the consistency in his game that never really existed when he wore a blue shirt.
The Arsenal attacker has scored four goals and created one assist in his eight league games this season.

Nicolas Jackson outperforming Kai Havertz
According to Jason Cundy, Chelsea striker Jackson is having a better individual league campaign than Arsenal counterpart Havertz so far.
When discussing Jackson, Cundy told talkSPORT: “I’ve got to tell you there are a lot of qualities about this boy. He’s a rough diamond. There is a player in there.
“Five Premier League goals this season. Everyone is waxing lyrical about what Kai Havertz is doing at Arsenal, and clearly he’s doing okay. You put his games up in the Premier League to Nicolas Jacksons. Jackson right now, outstripping him.”
Nicolas Jackson should aim to eclipse last year’s tally
We’ve seen Jackson’s all-round game is superb and he brings so much to the Chelsea XI, but plenty of people will ultimately judge him on his attacking output.
The Senegal international should be aiming to do better than his debut season with the Blues last year.
| Season | Appearances (all competitions) | Goals | Assists |
| 2023/24 | 44 | 17 | 6 |
| 2024/25 | 9 | 5 | 3 |
Jackson’s goal at Anfield in the weekend defeat to Liverpool was a sign that his finishing is improving, producing a clinical finish when one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
With Christopher Nkunku breathing down his neck to start as the No 9, Jackson will know he can’t afford to take his foot off the gas after a strong start to the season. Hopefully, this is just the beginning for him in a Chelsea shirt.
