Jason Cundy thinks Chelsea will eventually need to replace their £25m player

Jason Cundy has singled out one Chelsea player for big criticism by saying that the club will never win major silverware while he’s in the starting line-up.

Chelsea can reflect on a fairly positive start to the season so far, sitting fourth in the Premier League table after six gameweeks. But the Blues manager does still have some areas to iron out, especially defensively.

Enzo Maresca has quickly got his side scoring goals at will and playing with a clear identity.

However, speaking via Sky Sports this week, Paul Merson has urged Chelsea to stay playing out from the back as much.

Jason Cundy predicts Robert Sanchez will be replaced

TalkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy thinks Chelsea will eventually replace goalkeeper Robert Sanchez in their starting XI and sign a much stronger replacement.

Cundy told talkSPORT: “I think probably he (Robert Sanchez) will be replaced at some stage… He’s a good shot stopper, and there are times when he pulls out brilliant saves, but overall, I don’t think Chelsea can go and win a major trophy with him in goal, if I’m brutally honest right now.”

Pressure on Robert Sanchez

Sanchez, 26, had a shaky debut season with Chelsea last year, something that is still in the minds of supporters.

The £25m goalkeeper (BBC) regained his starting position this campaign under new management. In fact, he’s already delivered some pretty solid individual performances in recent weeks.

Unfortunately, the Spanish shot-stopper had a shocking display in the weekend’s 4-2 league win over Brighton, costing his side a couple of goals with poor errors.

Many Chelsea fans want Sanchez replaced in the team, so he’s got to try cancel out the noise and perform in the Premier League. However, there’s definitely question marks about him playing out from the back and whether he’s good enough to be the long-term solution in-between the sticks.
