Chelsea travel to Manchester United this weekend for a gigantic fixture between two of the Premier League’s mainstays, which is going to have extra eyes on it because of Erik ten Hag’s recent sacking.

Chelsea visit Old Trafford this Sunday in search of another three points in the Premier League. So far, the Blues have three wins from four on the road during this league campaign.

Enzo Maresca’s side go into this weekend fifth in the division table, while opponents Man United are down in 14th. As a result, Ruud van Nistelrooy has took charge as interim boss of Man United amid widespread reports that Ruben Amorim will soon become the club’s next permanent manager.

From a Chelsea perspective, Jadon Sancho is ineligible to play against his parent club on Sunday. Sancho was due to start Chelsea’s match against Newcastle, but he missed yesterday’s Carabao Cup defeat through illness.

Jeff Stelling predicts Manchester United vs Chelsea result

Jeff Stelling has tipped Chelsea to keep up their impressive away form this season by winning away at Man United in a couple of days time.

Stelling told talkSPORT: “Chelsea will hope there’s no new manager bounce, but there’s no question that some of those players who didn’t see eye to eye with Erik ten Hag will have a point to make.

“Chelsea, though, have been irresistible, particularly going forward. Yes, they have their defensive vulnerabilities. They haven’t won at Old Trafford for many a year, not since 2012. But I think the long wait could soon be over. I’m going to go for Chelsea to win this one. Manchester United 1-2 Chelsea.”

Despite the loss to Newcastle in midweek, the league form has generally been positive. Unfortunately, Enzo Fernandez failed his Chelsea audition to impress in the cup, so it would be a surprise to see him start at Old Trafford.

Manchester United vs Chelsea head-to-head

Chelsea travel to Manchester this weekend in a much greater shape that United, but it’s actually been a really close fixture in recent years.

Here is a look at the previous eight league meetings between the English giants:

Blues supporters will hope to see some more Cole Palmer magic on Sunday, and he should have happy memories from scoring a hat-trick against Man United back in April.

Speaking earlier this week, Paul Scholes said Man United would be much higher in the league with Palmer. Instead, he’ll be trying to torment them and the Red Devils defence at Old Trafford.
