Reports have claimed that Jim Ratcliffe is looking towards a former Chelsea transfer target as the player he wants to make as his first big signing for Manchester United.

According to the Evening Standard, Michael Olise could be considered as the first big name brought to Old Trafford under their somewhat new regime.

Chelsea were reportedly very keen to bring in Olise over the summer as they continued their bid to address the entire squad.

It was even claimed at a point that the Blues had prepared to trigger the release clause of the Frenchman to bring him in.

However, the transfer hit a snag when Crystal Palace threatened to bring the method of Chelsea’s approach into question.

The 22-year-old also ended up signing a new contract, with it being believed that his release clause is now at a much higher figure than it was over the summer.

United want Olise

Chelsea went on to sign Cole Palmer in that role, and he has quickly proven to be one of the best signings of the season in the league let alone at Stamford Bridge.

He is already on eight goals so far this season, which is just one less than Olise has managed in his entire Premier League career.

It was reported a few weeks ago that Chelsea were not prepared to let their interest in the winger die, and were considering coming in for him again even after they brought in Palmer.

However, they could be about to face some serious competition from Manchester United. The Red Devils are reportedly considering bringing him in at the end of the season.

A deal is likely to not be possible for either party this month. However, they will both be taking notes of just how impressive his current run of form is, and the impact he can have if he gets a move to a bigger side.
