Joe Cole predicts whether Mauricio Pochettino is going to be booed by Tottenham fans tonight

It certainly will be interesting to see what kind of reception Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino gets tonight when he returns to Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea legend Joe Cole, however, says he already knows what Mauricio Pochettino should expect after talking to Tottenham fans.

Cole has been speaking on TNT Sports ahead of the London derby between the two sides.

Pochettino, of course, managed Tottenham from 2014 to 2019 but now finds himself at their fierce rivals.

Cole thinks Pochettino can forget about a warm reception from the Tottenham supporters tonight if he was thinking about one.

Ahead of the Argentine’s return to north London, Cole said on TNT Sports: “I’ve done my market research in the WhatsApp groups and he ain’t getting no love. I’ve not met one Spurs fan who’s going to go, ‘I’m really looking forward to welcoming Mauricio back.’ “

Mauricio Pochettino should not be surprised

It really should not be a shock to Pochettino if Spurs supporters do not welcome him back.

He has joined their rivals and it will obviously be a huge game tonight. They need to make the atmosphere as hostile as possible and what is a better way to do that than booing your former manager?

Vice versa and Chelsea fans would probably do the same thing. The Blues cannot get sidetracked with this whole Pochettino returning to Tottenham circus, though.

They need a win after such a poor start to the season. Chelsea lost 2-0 to Brentford last time out in the Premier League and are currently in the bottom half of the table with just 12 points.

It is not good enough after all of the money they have spent.

Tottenham, in contrast, are flying high. Like Chelsea, they hired a new manager in the summer and sold their star player Harry Kane but are doing just fine. So what is the Blues’ excuse?

Injuries? They certainly cannot be overlooked, but their squad has not been depleted to the point where it is not good enough to be in the top half of the table.
