John Obi Mikel has vented his frustration towards one Chelsea first-team player for his poor form in recent weeks.

The Chelsea squad is yet to hit top form during a challenging start to 2025, but hopefully two wins from their previous three Premier League games is the start of a good run.

Blues striker Nicolas Jackson, who’s on a poor streak of eight consecutive appearances without a goal, is an individual receiving a lot of criticism for his performances. Jackson was really poor in Chelsea’s win over West Ham on Monday night.

However, he’s one of several players in the team struggling to make a significant impact right now.

John Obi Mikel claims Chelsea player has gone missing recently

Former Blues midfielder John Obi Mikel has singled out Chelsea’s Jadon Sancho for his displays in recent games. He’s accused the 24-year-old winger of taking his foot off the gas and allowing his standards to drop.

When discussing Chelsea winger Sancho on his podcast, Mikel said: “He came in through the door and showed why I wanted him to come to the club, he performed well the first couple of games. The first few games he showed why he should be at the football club. He was getting the ball, taking people on, running at defenders, and creating chances.

“For the past few games, we haven’t seen that. Since the December period, we haven’t seen anything from Jadon. He can’t relax…”

Mario Melchiot thought Chelsea’s Sancho was quiet versus West Ham this week as he was substituted off early in the second half.

The English left-winger has been an important player under Enzo Maresca since joining last summer on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United.

However, it’s fair to highlight that his form is a bit up and down. He’s not scored or assisted in his last four league appearances.

What Ben Foster said about Jadon Sancho when he joined Chelsea

There were certainly a few eyebrows raised when Sancho moved to Stamford Bridge at the start of the campaign.

Back in September, Ben Foster questioned Chelsea’s move to sign Sancho from Man Utd. Foster said: “I still don’t understand what they (Chelsea) are trying to do. I really don’t. The Jadon Sancho move, in particular, really boggles my head.”

In fairness, Chelsea’s decision to bring in Sancho looks justified in the sense that he’s played regularly. The left-winger does suit the system under Maresca, too.

However, we’re seeing signs of why he never kicked on at Old Trafford because he’s sometimes missing end product, which is the same as most of the Blues attackers this season.
