Chelsea need to stick with Mauricio Pochettino as their manager at least until the end of the season.
That is according to John Obi Mikel.
There’s a huge cloud of disappointment around Chelsea following Sunday’s defeat to Liverpool in the League Cup final.
For Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino, he’s still waiting to win a trophy as a manager in this country. It doesn’t look pretty for him either given his side sit 11th in the league table.
Journalist Simon Phillips reported via his Substack this week that Chelsea’s owners haven’t sacked Pochettino yet because he could yet qualify for Europe.

Speaking on his The Obi One Podcast this week, Mikel has shared his opinion on the manager situation at Stamford Bridge.
The former Blues star would like to see Pochettino get plenty of time to be a success in west London, but he concedes that the club’s owners may have a big think in the summer.
“I really don’t know what’s going to happen. I hope he gets as much time. It depends on the new owners. I know definitely if it was Roman [Abramovich], it would have been a different story,” Mikel said.
“I’ll say definitely let’s wait until the end of the season and see where we finish. And then the owners decide… If they feel that where we finish is not good enough despite the whole investment, then they can make a decision.”
Mauricio Pochettino position
Unless there’s a huge turnaround in the next couple of months, Chelsea’s season looks set to be another very poor one for a second consecutive year.
We’re not surprised to hear rumours in the media about other managers, but will this ownership be prepared to sack yet another individual?
The Daily Mail recently claimed that Chelsea have started looking at potential candidates that could replace Pochettino. Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim is named as someone they have a long-standing interest in.
