John Terry and Ivan Toney have taken to Instagram to lead the tributes to Reece James after he suffered an injury setback.
The 23-year-old suffered an unfortunate injury just over 45 minutes back in Chelsea Blue.
In his first professional appearance since October, the England international was fitting back in seamlessly in the right-back role of a new look 4-3-3 system.
However, he signalled to the coaching staff early in the second half that he was unable to continue, worrying the bench and Chelsea fans in the process.
The pain in his knee was mirrored by the look on his face, with him already on the end of a difficult final few months of 2022.
His original issue saw him ruled out of the World Cup in Qatar, where he was sure to play an important role for Gareth Southgate’s side.

This, combined with what is now confirmed to be up to another month on the sidelines is just adding more setbacks in the way of the highly-talented defender.
James took to Instagram yesterday to make a statement explaining how difficult the issues are proving to be for the Chelsea man.
Legendary captain Terry and forward Toney were quick to comment messages of support, as well as a number of his Blues teammates.
The Brentford striker has previously been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with Graham Potter no doubt keen to address the goalscoring issue that has been at the club for the last few years.
However, the Englishman’s ongoing investigation over betting allegations have made him a far less attractive prospect for the big sides, despite what has been a very impressive season in front of goal.
The club yesterday confirmed the signing of David Datro Fofana, likely to hopefully address the position in the future.
