John Terry was left a bit angry by some of what he saw from Chelsea in yesterday’s match against Crystal Palace.
The Blues ended up securing an important 2-1 home win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League, but it took an 89th minute penalty from Noni Madueke to separate the teams.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are back up to 10th in the league table after a much-needed victory. It’s no secret that there’s still such a long way for this young squad to go, though.
Next, Chelsea travel to Luton Town on Saturday for their last match of the calendar year.

John Terry reaction
Commenting during Chelsea’s win versus Palace, Blues legend John Terry spotted that the hosts were passing backwards too much at Stamford Bridge. He fumed that his former club weren’t winning enough individuals tackles, too.
“We need to play and run forward more, we keep playing backwards allowing Palace to get everyone behind the ball. Also we HAVE to win our tackles all over the pitch!” Terry wrote on X.
Chelsea vs Crystal Palace
We’ve seen Pochettino’s side play loads better this season than in last night’s match, but the three points was by far the most important thing.
It does feel like this squad does have a soft underbelly at times and they can be physically outmuscled on the pitch, which may partly be down to the inexperience and youthfulness in the squad.
One player who set the example for his Chelsea teammates against Palace: Malo Gusto.
The 20-year-old defender plays with the kind of aggression on and off the ball that Blues teammates could really learn from.
Speaking via Amazon Prime’s live coverage of Chelsea vs Palace, Lee Dixon said on co-commentary that Gusto was having “a stormer”.
We’ll add that captain Conor Gallagher is another that leave everything out on he pitch every single time.
