Jorginho has taken to Instagram to thank Arsenal fans for their support as his side beat Chelsea 3-1 last night.

The fixture was the first time the Italy international faced his former side since he was sold back in January on deadline day.

The 31-year-old was widely expected to not be willing to sign a new contract with the club at the end of this season, meaning he would be free to leave at that stage for nothing.

Chelsea were obviously keen to avoid this scenario, and were quick to accept an offer from across the capital for his services.

With the risk of losing N’golo Kante in the same way, they determined that they really couldn’t afford to risk both key players leaving for free.

It didn’t take long for Jorginho to be replaced, with the club later that day completing the club-record signing of Enzo Fernandez.

The World Cup winner has been very impressive since making the move to West London, however last night was certainly not one that he’d like to remember.

While you’d be hard pressed to find a supporter who is unhappy with the addition of the World Cup young player of the tournament, however it has become clear that he does need a partner alongside him that allows him to excel.

The Blues are reportedly in the market for a number of options, with the likes of Romeo Lavia high on the list, especially if his side are relegated.
