Conor Gallagher’s contract at Chelsea continues to run down, leaving his future up in the air.

The midfielder’s existing deal expires next year and he does not look any closer to signing an extension.

However, journalist Ben Jacobs has told GiveMeSport that Conor Gallagher‘s camp want a new contract to be offered to the 24-year-old soon.

They may get their wish, with The Telegraph’s Matt Law believing that Chelsea will make a proposal before the end of the season.

It would be good timing for Gallagher, as he will want to focus on the Euros should he be called up to the England squad.

Conor Gallagher camp want early contract

According to Jacobs, Gallagher’s people would prefer it if a new deal was sorted soon.

On the player’s contract situation at Stamford Bridge, the journalist said: “It’s likely that Gallagher will just want a settled end to the season and then, if he is selected for the European Championships, go and play for England before resolving his future.

“When I speak to the player’s camp, they would much prefer a new contract to either be put on the table early, so he can be settled and not have to enter the summer in a saga, or any suitors may have to wait until after the European Championships if new contract talks don’t progress because Gallagher doesn’t want to have a difficult and stressful situation.”

Chelsea need to sort out Conor Gallagher’s contract situation now

Chelsea need to stop messing around and hand Gallagher his new deal now. He is quite clearly an important player for Mauricio Pochettino.

The Englishman has only missed one Premier League game this season and that was because of suspension.

Why are the Blues prepared to potentially lose a player like that? If the club need to make money, with such a large squad, surely there are less valuable assets they can get rid of and still get good cash for?

Gallagher should be signed up immediately, but it looks like Chelsea are ready to take their time with this and could sell the England international if a new deal is not agreed. They are obviously not going to want to lose him on a free transfer next year.
