Chelsea ended up having just one representative in the England side after Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill withdrew from international duty last week.

Noni Madueke remained with the group, and was rewarded with two starts for his country in the Nations League.

Chelsea fans were impressed by Madueke against Greece last week, with him assisting the first goal of the game for Ollie Watkins.

English media criticised Madueke’s end product last night in the 5-0 win over the Republic of Ireland, although he certainly looked dangerous down the right-wing.

Jude Bellingham praises Noni Madueke

It looks as if this opinion was shared by a number of England’s players from last night, with them all looking to make a case to incoming manager Thomas Tuchel.

Jude Bellingham was quick to praise the Chelsea man for his performance, taking to Madueke’s Instagram post to leave a one-word response.

He simply commented ‘sharp’ to sum up his display at Wembley before they both return to their respective clubs.

Madueke has kept the faith of manager Enzo Maresca throughout this season in the Premier League, although is certainly facing competition for his place now.

Pedro Neto battling with Madueke for right-wing

Pedro Neto has emerged as one of the key attackers at Stamford Bridge at the moment, with him able to feature on both wings with great effect.

Micah Richards has called for Neto to shift to the right, which would cause issues for Madueke with that being the role he has played in this season.

Maresca could be about to welcome Jadon Sancho back from injury in the coming days, after he missed a spell of games before the international break.

The boss has taking a liking to the Manchester United loanee, and will likely not be waiting too long before he brings him back into the lineup for this string of games until the next international break in March.
