Levi Colwill thinks Chelsea teammate Thiago Silva is a ridiculously good player after training with him in the past few weeks.
Levi Colwill, who came through the academy at Cobham, is one of the new faces in Chelsea’s first-team squad this season.
The highly-rated 20-year-old centre-back has been working with the group during pre-season. In fact, Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino recently suggests he could start Sunday’s Premier League opener against Liverpool (Football.London).

If the youngster does play, we’re expecting him to partner 38-year-old veteran Thiago Silva in the heart of defence.

Colwill has admitted that Silva is a defender he’s admired and looked up to for a long time.
It’s fascinating to hear him explain that the Brazil international is still superb in training even at his age.
“He is a joke. Training with him, playing next to him, he’s just so relaxed. He knows everything that is going on. You can’t put into words how good he is,” Colwill said, as quoted by CaughtOffside.
“It would mean a lot to me [to start alongside him against Liverpool]. I remember when I was younger, I used to watch clips of him the day before a game. When he was at PSG, I just used to watch clips because he’s not the biggest, he’s not the fastest and that’s what I used to be like before I grew a lot. Mentally, he’s steps above everyone. If 10-year-old Levi thought about playing with him, it would be amazing – the best feeling in the world.”

Reece James was appointed Chelsea’s permanent captain this week, something which delighted Mason Mount on Instagram.
We’re still expecting Silva to play a huge role on and off the pitch while he’s still at the club, though.
Now into his fourth season as a Chelsea player, Silva has proved all critics wrong by dominating in the Premier League while well into his late-thirties. It’s remarkable to think he turns 39 next month!
