Chelsea confirmed the sale of Angelo Gabriel to Al-Nassr this week, which has received an interesting response from the fanbase.

Chelsea announced that they’ve sold Angelo Gabriel to Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr.

The 19-year-old right-winger only joined the Blues last summer, and he spent last season out on loan with Strasbourg. Now, he’s completed a permanent exit by moving to Saudi Arabia.

Gianluca Di Marzio reported last year that former Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino wanted to keep Angelo last season. Unfortunately, the Brazilian teenager leaves this summer without ever making his competitive debut for the club.

Chelsea fans react to Angelo Gabriel sale

Many Chelsea supporters on social media are actually quite understanding to the club’s decision to sell Angelo.

The fanbase believe that Angelo’s departure makes total sense because it paves the way for the arrival of Estevao Willian in 2025. Chelsea announced in June that they’ve agreed to sign Palmeiras’ 17-year-old wonderkid Estevao next summer.

Here are some Blues fans on X discussing Angelo’s exit…

One fan said: “Angelo is a good player but with Estevao coming next season it would have been an uphill task to break into the Chelsea squad.”

Another wrote: “Really liked Angelo but I think the signing of Estevao just sealed his career at Chelsea.”

A third user posted: “Angelo is a baller but with Estevao and [Kendry] Paez joining he was never making it.”

One supporter claimed: “Angelo leaving is one more season for Madueke to step and be consistent. Estevao in 2025 will be unstoppable.”

Another shared: “Angelo imma miss you bro. Onto bigger things now, Estevao hang on for us you’ll be home soon.”

The future of Chelsea’s right wing

Noni Madueke is currently starring in the Chelsea XI so far this season as the main right-winger. If we peak into next season, Estevao will be available to compete for that position as well.

Despite only being 17, Estevao has joined up with Brazil’s senior squad during this current international break. Therefore, you can understand why there’s so much excitement from within the Chelsea fanbase about securing his transfer.

On paper, the Blues have signed a teenager many will hope is a generational talent. It remains to be seen if things will work out that straightforward, though.

Regardless, Angelo’s path into the starting XI at Stamford Bridge looked tough, so a sale may be a sensible decision for all parties.
