Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino now looks ready to discipline his side after their 4-1 loss to Newcastle United yesterday.
Chelsea went into half-time with the score at 1-1, so the Blues did not have the worst first half.
However, they completely collapsed in the second 45 minutes, conceding three more goals and losing a man to a sending off after captain Reece James picked up two yellow cards. And Mauricio Pochettino, speaking to The Athletic and the rest of the media after the game, suggested his team will be forced to train today and there will be no day off.
The Blues will be looking to bounce back when they take on Brighton & Hove Albion at home next Sunday.
Mauricio Pochettino ready to punish Chelsea team
Speaking after Chelsea’s humiliating 4-1 defeat at St James’ Park, Pochettino hinted his team would not be enjoying a day off today.
“We were talking after in the dressing room, after the game, because in a normal way I think we should go directly to the hotel and sleep and start to train tomorrow early in the morning and no day off,” the Argentine was quoted as saying by The Athletic.

Should Mauricio Pochettino punish his Chelsea team?
Honestly, they can have no complaints if he does decide to. After a decent first half against Eddie Howe’s side, they were embarrassing in the second 45 minutes.
The goals Chelsea conceded were so poor, with Thiago Silva at fault for Newcastle’s third, which practically ended the tie.
The Brazilian has since taken to Instagram to apologise for his costly error, a costly error that shocked Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson.
It was an uncharacteristic mistake from Silva that Chelsea were unable to recover from, but he is not the only player to blame for the Blues’ defeat.
Overall, it was a poor team display and Pochettino and Chelsea must now return to the drawing board after some positive results just before the international break.
Whatever solution the 51-year-old is able to come up with, if one at all, Champions League football now looks to be out of reach for Chelsea.
