Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has now said that one of his players will be back in the first team squad for the first time this year.
He claimed in his pre-match press conference that he believes he will be able to call on Nicolas Jackson for the first time since December following his recent exit from the African Cup of Nations.
Jackson is for sure a figure who has been missed since he begun representing his country, with them lacking any form of striker this year so far.
Armando Broja was the only recognised option, however the faith in him has now been shown by the fact that he has been loaned out for the rest of the season to Fulham.
Pochettino has today hinted that he has more than enough belief in youngster Deivid Washington if he needs to call upon him in the coming weeks.
The Argentine also stated that barring any last minute disasters, Jackson would be involved with the squad again from this weekend.
Jackson fit for Sunday
He said: “We need to assess Nico. Today was his first training session with us. He didn’t play too much but was one month away. For sure, he will be involved if nothing happens tomorrow with the squad.”
The Blues are looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League with the match against Wolves at Stamford Bridge.
They will be well aware that the performance needs to be far better than when they featured earlier this week against Liverpool.
Chelsea were humbled against the league leaders, with only really the performances of Djordje Petrovic and Christopher Nkunku being a real positive for them to come away with.
Jackson could bring the all-round striker game that the Blues have been really missing in recent weeks.
