Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has claimed the club’s medical team have not been allowing him to use Trevoh Chalobah.

Trevoh Chalobah, 24, hasn’t played a single minute yet this season as he recovers from a long-term injury.

The versatile defender, who can play centre-back or right-back to a great standard, is a talented player developed in the Chelsea academy.

There was speculation about him potentially leaving Stamford Bridge in the January window, but he stayed beyond the deadline.

So, can he force his way into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans once he’s fit and available again?

Pochettino was asked about Chalobah’s fitness ahead of this Sunday’s Premier League match at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“He’s really close. He’s trained really well. We need the permission of the medical area to have the possibility to be selected and be in the squad. At the moment, we don’t have the permission,” Pochettino said, as quoted by Footbtall.London.

It’ll be quite a boost once Chalobah can play again. It sounds very close, too.

Journalist Ben Jacobs claimed via X recently that Chalobah was content staying with Chelsea beyond January despite receiving transfer interest. Afterwards, he would prefer to join a new club playing in Europe.

His sale would generate pure profit on the club’s books, so we won’t be surprised if these are his final few months in a Chelsea shirt.

We still think he can offer help to the squad while he’s with us.
