Morgan Gibbs-White raves about ‘incredible’ Chelsea star he’s played with before

Nottingham Forest and England midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has raved about the special talent of one Chelsea player.

Morgan Gibbs-White, 24, has just received his first senior call-up to the England squad. The Forest ace will be hoping he’s handed his maiden senior cap on the international stage by interim Three Lions manager Lee Carsley this month.

Similarly, Chelsea winger Noni Madueke was also called up to the England seniors for the first time ever. This comes after Alan Shearer said Madueke delivered his best ever Chelsea performance in last month’s 6-2 Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he did score a stunning hat-trick.

Morgan Gibbs-White hails Cole Palmer

Speaking via HaytersTV during his first press conference as a senior England player, Gibbs-White was asked about the absence of some big names in the squad that play in his position as an attacking midfielder.

Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham and Manchester City’s Phil Foden are both missing for England. Also, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer withdrew from the Three Lions camp this week.

Gibbs-White has labelled England trio Palmer, Bellingham and Foden as three of the world’s elite players. Therefore, it’s no surprise that they were all named on yesterday’s 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or shortlist.

The Forest midfielder, who previously played alongside Palmer for England’s U21s, said: “They are three incredible names that you’ve just called out. It’s unfortunate they can’t be here… They’re probably three of the best players in the world right now. To be behind them is obviously a good and a bad thing.”

England need Cole Palmer in the XI

We saw at Euro 2024 whenever Palmer entered the pitch he made an impact, including scoring in the final during the defeat to Spain. Therefore, it’s staggering that he started zero games at the tournament.

It’s no easy job for any England manager to fit all the talented individuals into the same XI, but surely Palmer needs to be a central figure moving forward.

The attacker is going from strength to strength in Chelsea colours, and his ceiling does feel incredibly high right now. If he continues in this way for his club side, there’s no way he can be overlooked by England again.
