Chelsea defender Ian Maatsen is remaining coy on his future.
Ian Maatsen joined Borussia Dortmund on loan last month and the German giants could have a good chance to sign him permanently in the summer. That is because he has a £35m release clause in his contract, according to The Telegraph.
However, the left-back says he is keeping his options “open”, with RUHR 24 relaying his words.
It may only be a loan, but Maatsen already looks at home at Signal Iduna Park. In five Bundesliga appearances, he has managed to provide two assists.
The Dutch youngster was overlooked by Mauricio Pochettino while at Chelsea this season, making just one start in the Premier League.
Ian Maatsen keeping options open
Maatsen is not ruling anything out when it comes to his future. When asked about remaining at Dortmund, the 21-year-old said: “We’ll see after the season. My options are open.”
Previously, Maatsen admitted that he would love to be at Dortmund next season but also left things open when he spoke then.

Will Ian Maatsen return to Chelsea?
While Maatsen may be open to every possibility, we do not think him return to Chelsea and staying there is likely.
The Blues clearly want to offload him for some money, otherwise they would not have inserted that £35m release clause in his contract. It virtually puts the Netherlands U21 international on the market.
With the way he has been playing at Dortmund and the potential that he possesses, someone is going to trigger it. Will that club be the German outfit? Time will tell.
As for Chelsea, they will assess whether Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella and Levi Colwill will be enough for next season. With Chilwell not having the best injury record and Colwill not even being a left-back, it may not be.
From the club’s perspective, though, it does not look like Maatsen is the solution.
