‘No game intelligence’… TalkSPORT pundit claims 23-year-old Chelsea player is so frustrating to watch

Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk can be such a frustrating player to watch on a football pitch.

That is according to talkSPORT pundit Carlton Cole.

Mykhailo Mudryk, 23, is certainly still someone with a target on his back.

The Blues attacker has scored four goals in 22 Blues appearances across all competitions this season.

Unfortunately, he did come under-fire for some criticism following his latest performance. Chelsea may have thrashed Middlesbrough 6-1 on Tuesday night to reach next month’s Carabao Cup final, but Mudryk was substituted off at half-time after a quiet display.

Speaking via ESPN this week, Nedum Onuoha spotted Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino was giving Mudryk a lot of grief from the touchline during the Boro cup tie.

Carlton Cole delivered his own critical verdict on Chelsea winger Mudryk after his most recent outing.

“He’s always frustrating. I just don’t get it. He’s obviously got potential but how do you get the best out of him? If Poch can’t do it, it’s going to be hard,” Cole cold talkSPORT (10:43pm, 23 January).

“He’s got the attributes. He’s got no game intelligence. It’s raw [ability] but it’s just reading the game.”

Mykhailo Mudryk is frustrating

We suspect most of the Chelsea fanbase feels very similar when it comes to Mudryk.

The rapid left-winger can get you off your seat with his directness, agility and pace. However, there’s very few occasions yet when he’s been able to piece everything together to deliver a consistent 90 minute performance.

Our fear is that the Ukraine international isn’t doing enough to convince Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino when he plays.

We feel he may not be in the strongest Chelsea line-up at this moment in time. The likes of Raheem Sterling, Cole Palmer and even Noni Madueke look more threatening and reliable going forward.
