The majority of the Chelsea squad who will feature next season are currently out in the United States on their pre-season tour.

Results have not gone the way of Enzo Maresca and his side so far, however there are still plenty of games left for the players to prepare for the upcoming Premier League season.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Nicolas Jackson both travelled with the team despite not being fully fit, however reports have stated that they are both closing in on their first appearance of the summer.

Those players who recently went on deep runs with their countries at international tournaments have not yet joined up with the first team.

One of those is Marc Cucurella, whose Spain side were victorious in the European Championships.

Marc Cucurella returns to Cobham

While he is not set to travel out to the US, the full-back posted on his Instagram story that he had returned to Cobham to get back to work ahead of next season.

Chelsea fans who haven’t seen him for a while will be surprised by Cucurella’s new look, with him dying his hair red to celebrate Spain’s victory.

His performances at Euro 2024 really wowed a number of pundits, with Phil Thompson describing him as ‘outstanding’.

Reece James inverting into midfield for Chelsea

It looks as if he is in for a start under the new manager and his system too, with a full-back almost certainly inverting when the season gets underway.

At the minute Reece James is often filling that role, and while he is performing decently it feels as if his game is limited in the middle of the park.

However, this is exactly where Cucurella starred in during the final few weeks of last season under Mauricio Pochettino, and he will be hoping to continue his resurgence when the new season begins with the tricky test of Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

This could cause issues for the future of Ben Chilwell, with a clear role in the side not being too clear at the moment.
