Chelsea have brought in another attacker after confirming the signing of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
Before Joao Felix‘s arrival, Chelsea had already bought his Portugal teammate Pedro Neto from Wolverhampton Wanderers, adding to a forward line that was not short of options.
Enzo Maresca was in possession of Cole Palmer, Christopher Nkunku, Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling.
He can now add Felix and Neto to the list, though Sterling could be about to drop off it. Sterling wants out of Chelsea after falling down the pecking order.

Paul Merson on Joao Felix and Chelsea’s attack
Former Arsenal player Paul Merson, who is a Chelsea supporter, is pleased to see Felix return to west London, describing the forward as a “big signing”.
Even with Sterling potentially leaving Stamford Bridge, Felix’s arrival means Maresca still has a lot of attacking options.
However, Merson has been able to quickly pick the attack he would like to see, going with a forward line of Felix, Palmer, Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson.
The above would see Neto have to settle for a place on the bench, showing the extent of Chelsea’s depth in attack right now.
What should Chelsea’s attack be following Joao Felix’s return?
Chelsea have invested so much money in the likes of Felix, Neto and Nkunku. Therefore, Maresca has to find a way to get these attackers into the same team.
Perhaps he can do so with a 4-2-3-1 formation, starting Nkunku up front, Felix on the left, Palmer in the No.10 role and then Neto on the right.
Of course, things become much more complicated if Chelsea go on to sign another centre-forward like Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. Chelsea are still pondering a move for Osimhen, so there is a possibility that they bring the 25-year-old in before the transfer window closes next week.
It is arguably a good problem for Maresca to have, though. The Italian would probably rather have too many forward options than not enough, with Chelsea aiming to get back into the top four and win some silverware this season.
