Paul Merson has now predicted the score ahead of Chelsea against Manchester City this Sunday.

There’s a final set of Premier League fixtures this weekend before it signs off for another two-week international break.

For Chelsea, they host league leaders and reigning champions Man City at Stamford Bridge for Sunday’s 4:30pm kick-off.

The Blues can take confidence from performances this season against the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool. It seems like Mauricio Pochettino’s side are more effective against the division’s top teams.

However, Man City arrive in West London on a five-game winning streak across all competitions.

Merse’s prediction

Paul Merson, who’s a Chelsea fan, does think his club can get a surprise result against Man City. He’s gone with a score draw in his pre-match prediction.

“I was bullish last week when I said Chelsea were going to beat Tottenham. I said it because Chelsea like teams coming at them. I think there’ll be some outstanding battles all over the pitch,” Merson told Sportskeeda.

“Chelsea will cause City problems and vice versa. But I still don’t see the Blues winning this one. I’d indeed be shocked if they won this one.

“That’s only because Manchester City have so many game-changers on their side. They are spoilt for choice as always. I just don’t see how any team will finish above Manchester City this season. I’m hoping that Chelsea get a draw here.

“Prediction: Chelsea 1-1 Manchester City.”

Chelsea nearing full strength for Manchester City

There’s still a few notable absences for Chelsea, with the likes of Christopher Nkunku and Wesley Fofana still missing.

However, the injury table is finally beginning to shorten and the bench is improving on a matchday.

In a video released by Chelsea’s X account yesterday, Blues striker Armando Broja has now been spotted in training doing shooting drill alongside his teammates. Hopefully, he’s another that is about to return and be available to play versus Man City.

There’s been a fair amount of criticism fired towards the depth in this squad, but perhaps it’s greater than people do think.
