Reece James has used a Twitter Q&A to have his say on the great footballing debate of Cristiano Ronaldo versus Lionel Messi.

The former Manchester United striker was reportedly a huge target of new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly in his first transfer window in charge of the club.

It has been discussed for a generation now which of the stars is better, with both enjoying careers we may never see the likes of again.

Both are set to represent their nations in the knockout stages of the World Cup.

The Argentine provided a couple of goals in the groups, with Ronaldo so far finding the net once (no he didn’t get a touch on it).

However, James has claimed that the Portugal international is a better player than his counterpart at PSG.

James chooses Ronaldo over Messi

There is an alternative world where this season the 22-year-old is relentlessly putting devastating crosses in to the box for Ronaldo to attack. If Boehly has got his way, this surely would have been the case.

Thomas Tuchel however posed opposition to the move, instead preferring to prioritise the signing of the likes of Raheem Sterling in attack.

With Ronaldo’s contract termination at Old Trafford, some may have thought the Blues will have returned for his services on a free transfer.

Despite that, reports have claimed that Graham Potter is equally against the signing, instead preferring to strengthen the squad with youth stars.

Chelsea are reportedly within touching distance of a deal to sign RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku, following their secret medical held towards the end of the summer transfer window.

They are also reportedly looking to strengthen their attack further, with them linked with a move to sign Rafael Leao from AC Milan, following the mantra of looking to stars for the future, as well as the present.
