With Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe looking set to feature in his two favourite positions for years to come, the move was necessary not to stunt his growth and development into a first team player.

At Chelsea, he has been slowly earning his stripes with the youth team. He has so far notched up three goals and as many assists in Premier League 2.

His best performance for the club though undoubtedly came last night, when the Blues faced Leyton Orient in the Football League trophy.

In the second half, the youngster picked the ball up in his own half before driving down the left and smashing home from the edge of the box.

He also set up two late goals in what turned out to be a 3-2 win last night.

These kind of displays are surely set to turn more heads at Stamford Bridge, with The Athletic claiming he has already impressed when training with the first team.

Supporters will be hopeful that his good performances at youth level will eventually see him rewarded with the chance to earn minutes for the first team.

With Graham Potter likely to need to continue to rotate over the next month before the World Cup, the opportunity to at least train again amongst the first team should crop up.
