Reports have claimed that Julian Nagelsmann’s name is the one that keeps coming up in meetings regarding the vacant Chelsea manager’s job.

According to The Independent, the former Bayern Munich boss is the leading candidate to take over at Stamford Bridge, whether that be now or at the end of the season.

The Blues are currently looking for their third manager of the season after the decision was made yesterday to sack Graham Potter.

Todd Boehly had given plenty of time and backing to the former Brighton boss, however reportedly seeing his side drop into the bottom half of the table was enough to force his hand.

With the Potter experiment now being ruled a failure, it is up to those in charge at Stamford Bridge to decide who will be next to take the hotseat in West London.

Nagelsmann the leading candidate

The timing of Nagelsmann’s sacking makes it obvious as to why he is being strongly linked with the job. His immense talent at the age of 35 also makes him an extremely exciting option.

However, he is widely expected to want to wait until the end of the season before making any decision over his next job.

This could keep the door open for other candidates who are keeping their name in the hat for the role.

Mauricio Pochettino is one of the names who was reportedly close to getting the job when Thomas Tuchel was sacked earlier this season, and he is still out of work.

The former Spurs boss is set to be interviewed for the role, and is apparently keen on taking the job despite his history managing one of Chelsea’s biggest rivals in the past.

Some other names across Europe have been listed as reported targets, with Ruben Amorim and Oliver Glasner two of those.
