Reports have claimed that Chelsea are now more likely to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen than Premier League rivals Arsenal.

According to ESPN, the Gunners’ desire to bring in a midfielder as a priority will give the Blues a clearer path towards signing the Nigerian.

A striker is certainly going to be really high on the agenda for the Premier League side this summer, following the lack of goals that have been on show at Stamford Bridge this season.

The likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling have been far from prolific this season, making it extremely difficult for any manager to trust any of them on a regular basis.

Osimhen is one of the most desired talents in Europe right now after his sensational season in Serie A, where he was last night crowned champion.

Chelsea more likely for Osimhen than Arsenal

A number of elite sides have been linked with the signing, which reports have claimed could cost the club in the region of £100m.

This will only leave the top sides able to strike a deal, and Chelsea are one of those who could strike a deal.

ESPN have now claimed that the Blues are more likely to bring him in than Arsenal, despite the Gunners being far clear of their city rivals.

The gulf in class was shown by this week’s meeting between the two sides, where the league leaders raced into a three-goal lead before half-time.

A first Chelsea goal for Noni Madueke at least brought some pride back in the second half, however the damage was more than done at the Emirates.

Despite not being able to offer Osimhen European football straight away, it would surely not be long before they are back amongst the big dogs instantly with his addition.
