Striker Mario Balotelli last night was full of praise for Victor Osimhen after Napoli were finally crowned the Champions of Italy.

He joined the Nigerian’s Instagram Live to congratulate him for the achievement, as well as ensure he understood just how important his personal contribution had been for the Serie A side’s success.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with an attempt to sign Osimhen this summer as they look to address the glaring issue from this season that has been a lack of goals.

No regular scorer has been one of the main reasons behind their dire campaign, with them currently sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League.

The likes of Kai Havertz, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Raheem Sterling have for a number of reasons not been able to find any sort of form in front of goal, leaving whoever has been in charge of the club finding it difficult to know who to start in the frontline.

Balotelli praises Osimhen

A number of names have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in order to try and overcome their woes in front of goal, and the Nigeria international has certainly been near the top of that list.

He was praised last night by Balotelli for his part in Napoli’s recent title win, claiming the striker wouldn’t yet realise just how impressive his achievement was.

He said: “Trust me, you did something incredible my friend. You still don’t know what you did.

“You will realise. Not tomorrow, but in 10 years. You will realise. It’s unbelievable what you did.”

Other players the club have been linked to have included Ivan Toney, who is currently the third top scorer in the Premier League behind Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.
