Reports have claimed that Chelsea will interview out-of-work Mauricio Pochettino for the currently vacant manager job.

According to The Telegraph, the Blues will speak to a number of candidates before making a final decision on who will become the new man in charge.

Graham Potter was yesterday relieved of his duties after what has been a dire few months at Stamford Bridge.

A recent run of two wins in 17 games made it extremely difficult for Todd Boehly to continue to back the man in charge.

However, a defeat to Aston Villa that saw them drop to the bottom half of the table was enough for them to believe that there were not enough signs of progress at the club.

There is now set to be a big decision to be made as to who will become the next manager to try and bring the Blues back to the top of the table.

Pochettino to be interviewed

The timing of Julian Nagelsmann’s sacking at Bayern Munich makes it very easy to link the young manager with the hotseat at Stamford Bridge.

However, it is widely expected that he wants to wait until the end of the season before he takes his new job.

This opens the opportunity up for a number of other candidates to stake their claim for the role.

One manager who is always linked to jobs the standard of Chelsea’s is Pochettino, however it is a number of seasons where he has been unemployed up to now.

The former Spurs man was reportedly very close to being handed the job when Thomas Tuchel was sacked last year.

Nevertheless, he is set to be one of a number of candidates to be interviewed by the club in what looks to be an expansive recruitment process.

A number of leftfield names have been mentioned as potential successors to Potter. Ruben Amorim and Oliver Glasner are both up and coming coaches who have been linked with the job.
