Reports from Italy have claimed that AC Milan have set Rafael Leao a deadline on when to sign a new deal at the club.

According to Calcio Mercato, the Serie A champions want his future sorted either way by January, with Chelsea widely reported to be interested in signing him with a fee of around £105m being discussed.

The winger is currently enjoying a strong World Cup despite only really being seen as an impact player off the bench.

He has a couple of goals already in the competition, with his late strike against Switzerland just a glimpse into the quality he possesses.

Blues fans will have already had an up close and personal look at the potential he possesses when they faced them in the Champions League this season.

Leao decision in January

Despite Reece James getting the better of him in a high-quality battle, the abilities he has were still evident in both contests.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for the winger ever since the end of the summer transfer window, however they were unable to get a deal done yet.

Despite this, reports still claim that they are looking to re-enter the market for the Portugal international. Calcio Mercato have claimed that AC Milan are keen to get his contract signed in fear of losing their talented star.

With Chelsea reportedly set to add Christopher Nkunku as a central attacker, a dynamic winger could help finish completely revolutionise their frontline going forwards.

Goals have still been an issue this season for the Blues, under both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter. Players such as Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have failed to make the desire impression at Stamford Bridge so far, and reinforcements will be required to allow the new coach to succeed.
