Chelsea interim head coach Bruno Saltor is expected to leave Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of the squad for Tuesday’s clash with Liverpool.
An earlier report from The Athletic claimed that several Chelsea players were shocked by Graham Potter’s decision to exile Aubameyang, who is one of the few recognised goalscorers in the squad, amid the team’s attacking problems.
Potter’s departure could still revive the 33-year-old’s career at Stamford Bridge, but the effect may not come immediately.
According to the Daily Mail, the striker is not expected to be named in interim boss Saltor’s squad ahead of the match against Liverpool.
This, however, may have something to do with Aubameyang‘s lack of match sharpness rather than Saltor’s not rating him highly enough.

Bear in mind that the retired Gabon international last featured for Chelsea in February and his last start was in early January.
Unlike Aubameyang, the Daily Mail adds that Mason Mount, who has recently returned from a pelvic injury, is expected to be among Chelsea’s substitutes against Liverpool.
The 24-year-old was also on the bench in Potter’s last match in charge against Aston Villa but did not get any minutes.
Interestingly, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp also expects the versatile midfielder, as well as N’Golo Kante, to feature against his side.
Klopp, however, believes that due to the lack of time to prepare for this game, Saltor is unlikely to make any significant tactical changes.
