Mauricio Pochettino has now personally spoken to £18m player about his Chelsea future

Reports from Brazil have claimed that Mauricio Pochettino has now personally been in touch with one Chelsea player about his future at the club.

According to geglobo, the boss has spoken to Andrey Santos about the next steps in his career after he returned to Stamford Bridge earlier this month.

Santos endured a loan spell to forget at Premier League side Nottingham Forest, where he appeared for mere minutes since his summer switch.

It was claimed during his spell there that the Blues were becoming frustrated with Forest, and they were facing financial punishments for not featuring the Brazilian.

The youngster has a lot of promise surrounding him since his £18m move to Chelsea, with some at the club more excited by the addition a year ago than the one of Enzo Fernandez.

Now is an important part of his career though, as the Blues look to make the right decision to allow him the best possible chance of developing for the rest of the season.

Santos spoken to Pochettino

It has now been claimed that no decision will be made on that until after the pre-olympic tournament he is currently set to represent Brazil in takes place, meaning in theory nothing will be set in stone until February.

This leaves there being a big chance that he doesn’t actually make a move for the rest of this season, and instead fights for some minutes at Stamford Bridge instead.

He would likely be first in line behind the duo of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, as well as Romeo Lavia who is still suffering from his own injury problems since joining the club.

He would be up against a player like Lesley Ugochukwu, who has certainly been handed opportunities he may not have expected when he joined the club as a youngster last summer.
