Reports have claimed that Mauricio Pochettino is keen on taking the vacant Chelsea managerial role.

According to The Independent, the work the 51-year-old has previously done with young players is something that has not gone unnoticed with those in charge at Stamford Bridge.

A decision now needs to be made for the second time this season as for who is to become the next Chelsea manager.

Graham Potter was yesterday sacked after receiving plenty of backing from the owners through a particularly bleak run of form.

However, reports stated that seeing their club in the bottom half of the Premier League following defeat to Aston Villa was enough to convince Todd Boehly that a change was needed.

The question now is who is going to take the role, with plenty of names across Europe being linked with the job.

Perhaps predictably, Julian Nagelsmann has been linked with the job after recently being sacked by Bayern Munich recently.

Pochettino wants Chelsea job

Despite the reported interest, the German is reportedly expected to want to wait until the end of this season before taking his next job in management.

This leaves it open for other candidates to stake their claim, and some reports have claimed a thorough interview process is set to be carried out.

One of the names who is linked with the interview is Pochettino, who has been out of a job since being sacked by PSG.

He has notably been admired by his former Spurs squad. Andros Townsend even described the Argentine as the best manager in the world.

Pochettino’s interest in the job comes despite a previous argument with Chelsea legend John Terry, after a typically spicy London derby when the pair were fighting for the title.

After nearly being hired following Tuchel’s sacking, now could be the time for the 51-year-old to be given his chance.
