Reports have claimed that Enzo Fernandez’s family have been left shocked at his progress since he joined Chelsea in January.

According to The Athletic, those back home in Argentina are enjoying the meteoric yet rapid rise he is currently experiencing.

The Blues will certainly have been expecting something special when they smashed their club record to bring him in on deadline day of the winter transfer window.

He has certainly not disappointed so far. Since the shift to a back three at Stamford Bridge, the World Cup winner has been able to show off exactly what he can do.

This has included two fantastic assists, most recently providing Kai Havertz in their victory over Leicester City at the weekend.

He has formed quite the partnership with Mateo Kovacic in midfield, and will soon have the opportunity to play alongside N’golo Kante.

Fernandez’s family shocked at his growth

The Frenchman is pushing for his first minutes since August after now completing a number of training sessions.

Fernandez though is likely to be a mainstay no matter who is available in midfield. His ability is not difficult to see at the age of just 22.

How good he has got in such a short period of time has surprised some of his family back home. The Athletic have claimed that they are revelling in his good fortunes right now.

He will be hoping to keep the positive atmosphere at Stamford Bridge that has followed three consecutive wins in all competitions.

This included victory in the Champions League last week, with them set to find out their quarter-final opponents in just a few days’ time.

Given any realistic ambitions in the league are gone, the European competition holds their final chance of silverware and qualification for the tournament again for next season.
