The Daily Mail claims that some Chelsea staff believe that there could be huge benefits if Mauricio Pochettino takes charge before the season ends.
However, the report explains that all indications are that Frank Lampard will remain as the caretaker manager until the end of the campaign before Pochettino joins for pre-season in the summer.
Journalist Dean Jones recently told GiveMeSport that Chelsea could officially appoint Pochettino as their new manager this week, with the Argentine stepping into the role once the season is done.
The 51-year-old coach is available and out of work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain last year.
It looks like Blues supporters will have to get through the rest of the season without him, though.
We can understand the reluctance for Chelsea’s next manager to step into the dugout right now.
This Blues side are at an all-time low when it comes to confidence, suffering six consecutive defeats since Lampard was appointed interim boss.
It was another rough evening for supporters yesterday, who watched the team lose 3-1 away to Arsenal in the Premier League.
We do struggle to see much changing under Lampard in these final five fixtures of the season.
Chelsea finish the campaign with games against Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle United. It doesn’t get much harder than that to finish.
Therefore, we’ve got to try salvage some pride and end this horror run in the upcoming fixtures against Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest.
But if we don’t raise our levels, this losing streak is only going to stretch further.
