Romeo Lavia has delivered a glowing verdict on Chelsea teammate Cole Palmer and his ability on the football pitch.
Romeo Lavia and Cole Palmer both joined Chelsea in the 2023 summer transfer window, but they’ve had different journeys so far at Stamford Bridge.
Palmer, 22, has been truly outstanding since he joined the Blues one and a half seasons ago. In 72 appearances across all competitions, the English playmaker has scored 39 goals and created 21 assists. Palmer would have way more assists if Chelsea players could improve their finishing, too.
As for Lavia, the 21-year-old defensive midfielder has got all the talent in the world. Unfortunately, his Chelsea career so far has been stop-start due to injuries, playing only 13 times for them since the start of the 2023/24 season.

Romeo Lavia makes claim about Cole Palmer
During an interview via the Premier League’s official YouTube channel, Lavia claimed that Chelsea star Palmer has unlimited potential and is an outstanding talent.
Without a doubt, we rate the attacking midfielder as one of Europe’s elite performers across the last 18 months.
When discussing Blues teammate Palmer, Lavia said: “He’s just amazing. He’s a great player. What he’s done, I wasn’t surprised. But there’s no words to explain what he’s done, and he’s still doing. The sky is the limit for him. I’m really happy to be on his side to try to help him be the best he can.”
Lavia and Palmer crossed paths when they were in Manchester City’s academy at the same time. Now, they’re both part of a very exciting young Chelsea side.
At this moment in time, Palmer is shouldering so much responsibility to inspire the Blues attack. If it’s not him, the team often look like they run out of ideas going forward.
Alan Shearer insists Chelsea aren’t the same team without Palmer because he’s the talisman who gets them ticking.

Can Cole Palmer repeat the trick against Brighton?
Chelsea travel to Brighton on Friday night for an important league match. Even though they recently lost at the Amex Stadium in the FA Cup, the Blues did win 4-2 against Brighton back in September at Stamford Bridge.
For Palmer, he’ll have amazing memories of the previous league meeting with Brighton because he scored four times.
Speaking earlier in the season, Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler admitted Chelsea’s Palmer can’t be stopped one-against-one. It’s the kind of message that everyone should be reminding him of ahead of Friday’s fixture.
If Palmer turns up, it can often be enough to get his team over the line. He certainly has extra pressure on him because of Nicolas Jackson’s injury absence.
