Former Chelsea star Salomon Kalou has reacted with delight after it was announced that Frank Lampard had been named the Chelsea manager.

The Ivorian commented on the club’s official Instagram post ‘Super, Super Frank’ in light of the affectionate chant which has rung around Stamford Bridge for two decades now.

The Englishman is back for his second stint in charge of the club, with it widely expected that he is only to be here until the end of the campaign.

This is to allow the Chelsea owners time to select the best candidate to carry the club forwards in the coming seasons.

Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique have been touted as the favourites for the role. Discussions are reportedly underway with both managers to potentially take over.

Until then however, it will be Lampard where the focus is, as he looks to get his shell-shocked squad off the ground for the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid next week.

He has already claimed that he has the belief that his players can achieve results in the big games, despite that not really being the case for most of this campaign.

It seems he has the backing of one of his former teammates anyway in Kalou. The duo performed together at Stamford Bridge to plenty of success.

The current players seem to be initially excited by the return of Lampard too. A number of players, including Reece James, Mason Mount and Thiago Silva have all liked the post announcing his return.

It will be interesting to see how many changes to Graham Potter’s team and system the new man in charge makes, and whether he will rely on those who served him so well in the past.

One of those very players is Mount, who the manager has already hinted is set to play a big part for him for the rest of the season.
