Chelsea legend Frank Lampard and Manchester City hero Sergio Aguero are two of the highest goalscorers in the Premier League.
Aguero has nothing but respect for Lampard, getting an opportunity to play alongside him at City during the 2014/15 season.
Both Premier League legends are retired now, but the latter remains in the game, managing Coventry City today.
Coventry are currently on an incredible run under Lampard, winning nine of their last 10 Championship fixtures.

Sergio Aguero impressed with Frank Lampard’s ability to score from midfield
The Premier League’s top scorers list is incredible, boasting the likes of Aguero himself, Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney.
Lampard also finds his name among that group of players, but what makes the Chelsea legend standout is the fact that he was a midfielder, whereas the others were all strikers.
For that reason, Aguero actually named Lampard as his favourite goalscorer in the English top flight’s history.
“I’d like to choose Frank Lampard, who in spite of not being necessarily a striker, stands among the top goalscorers. That deserves praise,” the Argentine told City’s official website (via The Sun) back in 2016.
“I had the chance to play alongside him and it was a valuable experience. He’s every inch a professional and a man you can respect.”
However, he did also give Shearer his flowers, adding: “Without a doubt, for his goal tally and lead over everybody else, Alan Shearer deserves to be on the podium.”
Lampard’s managerial career has not been as successful as his playing days. Lampard was axed as Chelsea boss in 2021 before losing his job at Everton a couple of years later.
However, Lampard is now flourishing at Coventry and has them in contention to win promotion at the end of the season.

Where Frank Lampard ranks on list of Premier League’s highest goalscorers
Lampard makes the top 10 for most goals in Premier League history and is the only midfielder there.
His critics will argue that he scored a lot of penalties, but to finish his career with 177 goals after playing in the engine room is still an impressive feat.
| Rank | Premier League’s top scorers | Goals |
| 1. | Alan Shearer | 260 |
| 2. | Harry Kane | 213 |
| 3. | Wayne Rooney | 208 |
| 4. | Andrew Cole | 187 |
| 5. | Sergio Aguero | 184 |
| = | Mohamed Salah | 184 |
| 7. | Frank Lampard | 177 |
| 8. | Thierry Henry | 175 |
| 9. | Robbie Fowler | 163 |
| 10. | Jermain Defoe | 162 |
For as good as Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez are, Chelsea fans would probably do anything to see a midfielder like Lampard start in their team again.
Unfortunately, a goalscoring midfielder is a rare commodity. The Blues have struggled to find a consistent, goalscoring No.9, so asking for another Lampard would be a bit much.
