Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on his Substack that Chelsea are keen to sign Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer.
The Swiss international’s contract is set to run out at the end of the season, meaning he will become a free agent at the end of the campaign.
He has recently finished representing his international side at the World Cup, although he may be happy to see the back of it after conceding six to Portugal in the Round of 16.

Chelsea meanwhile are reportedly keen to address the goalkeeping scenario at Stamford Bridge as soon as possible.
Graham Potter has seemingly preferred to start Kepa Arrizabalaga over previous first team stalwart Edouard Mendy, leaving the Senegal international assessing his future.
Chelsea interested in Sommer
Despite being the number one, reports have claimed that the club are not opposed to strengthening the Spaniard too.
Phillips has claimed while Sommer has plenty of experience in a big league in the Bundesliga, he would likely only be signed as a backup to whoever the club identify as the first choice going forwards.
He said: One goalkeeper that Chelsea are also seriously considering is Yann Sommer from Borussia Monchengladbach.

As of now, he will become a free agent in the summer, and Chelsea are seeing him as a perfect experienced option to come in off the back of potentially replacing three goalkeepers. They want solid depth options and Sommer could be a great backup/competition. The 33-year-year old, 80 capped Swiss international, is also wanted by Manchester United.
Reports have claimed that Potter is interested in a reunion with Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, which would be a continuation of the Blues raiding the Seagulls.
His ability on the ball has been touted as a massive strength, which compares to the glaring weakness in Mendy’s game.
