Sky Sports pundit says whether Jadon Sancho would be a good signing for Chelsea amid rumours

Clinton Morrison has just delivered his verdict on the transfer rumours linking Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho with a possible move to Chelsea.

Man United winger Jadon Sancho, 24, has been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge during this final week of the summer transfer window.

The Telegraph recently claimed that Chelsea are weighing up a move to sign £40m-rated Sancho. Apparently, there’s a suggestion that Blues attacker Raheem Sterling could be involved in a swap deal that would see him move in the opposite direction to Old Trafford.

Clinton Morrison verdict on Jadon Sancho

According to Sky Sports pundit Clinton Morrison, Sancho would be making a smart move if he ends up joining Chelsea. His only reservation would be the stiff competition for places in West London, though.

When discussing Sancho’s transfer links with Chelsea, Morrison told Sky Sports News (7:05pm, 27 August): “Sancho needs to resurrect his career, so I think a move to Chelsea would do him ever so well, but the problem with that is he wants to play week in week out.

“Chelsea have such a big squad that I don’t think all those players are going to play week in week out, but I think it will be a good move.”

He’s a massive risk

Sancho’s a player who’s shown he can rip it up in German football, but he’s found it difficult to make the same kind of impact in the Premier League so far.

The English wide man definitely has bags of ability. In fact, he may even suit Enzo Maresca’s system as an out-and-out winger. However, it’s hard to argue that Chelsea really need his signature because they’re stacked with options in the squad already.

Sancho’s unlikely to get near Chelsea’s best XI unless he rediscovers his top form, so we’re sceptical about this as a potential transfer.
