Chelsea have travelled up north this weekend to face Newcastle United later today.

Newcastle host Chelsea on Saturday afternoon in a Premier League fixture, with top-flight action returning after the international break.

Mauricio Pochettino was enjoying his Blues side find some kind of rhythm before the two-week pause, but they’ll have to start over again to build up some momentum and climb the league table.

Despite Newcastle’s injury worries, there’s no doubt a trip to St James’ Park is one of the toughest away days in the division.

It’s worth mentioning that Chelsea are unbeaten in league games this campaign against Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham.

Newcastle vs Chelsea prediction

Speaking on talkSPORT (2:42pm, 24 November), Stan Collymore has previewed the upcoming league fixture between Newcastle and Chelsea at St James’ Park. He’s predicted a score draw between the two rivals.

“Both clubs have got a lot of injuries… I think Newcastle, going for the win at home, will be hyper-aware that Chelsea are in some sort of form. Most people would say Chelsea plays better against the better teams. 2-2.”

Elsewhere, speaking on the Seaman Says podcast this week, David Seaman predicted a surprise Chelsea win versus Newcastle.

Key players

The Chelsea Chronicle has picked out a few Blues stars that could be crucial this weekend against Newcastle.

First of all, Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling’s influence on this side is growing every week. How will he fare against Newcastle’s quality right-back Kieran Trippier, though?

Elsewhere, Blues captain Reece James is always an influential figure whenever he’s on the pitch. There will be an expectation on him to provide an attacking threat, while also keep Anthony Gordon quiet.

Finally, Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo could be key in the centre of the park. This Newcastle outfit are particularly strong in their midfield battles, so let’s hope Caicedo’s on his A-game to boss proceedings.
