Chelsea youngster Diego Moreira is currently on loan at Lyon, but he did spend pre-season with the Blues.

And during it, the winger, who joined Chelsea from Benfica last summer, quickly built a few relationships with the likes of Christopher Nkunku and Malo Gusto.

Speaking to DH, Diego Moreira said he has been in regular contact with some of his new friends at Chelsea during his loan spell in France.

Like Moreira, Nkunku and Gusto also arrived at Chelsea last summer. Nkunku, though, has not been able to make much of an impact at Stamford Bridge because of injury.

Nkunku is just one Chelsea player who Moreira already seems to be close with.

Discussing Mauricio Pochettino and some of his team-mates at Chelsea, the 19-year-old said: “He is close to his players, gives a lot of good advice and really breathes football.

“I also stayed in contact with several players. I had time to build some links, especially with French speakers like Christopher Nkunku and Malo Gusto. Then, I obviously met Romeo Lavia.”

Diego Moreira may need another loan before playing alongside Christopher Nkunku

It may be a while before Chelsea supporters get to see Moreira line up next to Nkunku in the same starting XI.

Moreira is still quite young and may need another loan or two before he is ready for the Blues’ first team.

Whatever the case, the former Benfica youngster just seems to be happy that he was able to get a move to Chelsea during the summer. Moreira recently stated in an interview that he achieved a career goal by joining Pochettino’s team.

As for Nkunku, the France international can obviously make a contribution for the club right now. Pochettino just needs him to stay fit.
