TalkSPORT pundit slams £75m player who’s been linked to Chelsea for ‘throwing his toys out the pram’

As they often are, Chelsea were linked with so many players during the summer transfer window.

Of course, Chelsea did not sign every player they were linked with. The club went on to miss out on Jhon Duran and Victor Osimhen, for example.

Duran remained at Aston Villa, while Osimhen joined Galatasaray, where he is currently having a productive loan spell. The 25-year-old has already scored three goals and provided two assists in four league appearances.

Osimhen never looked close to joining Chelsea, but at one point it seemed like Duran would move to west London. In June, it was claimed that Chelsea and Villa had broadly agreed a deal that would have seen the striker join the Blues.

Stan Collymore not impressed with Jhon Duran

Villa will be glad that they kept hold of Duran. The 20-year-old scored for them once again on Tuesday, netting in their 2-0 win against Bologna in the Champions League.

Duran had plenty to smile about, yet the Colombian was absolutely furious when he was substituted shortly after finding the back of the net.

It resulted in him having a tantrum on the substitutes’ bench, which left former Villa striker Stan Collymore far from impressed.

Speaking about Duran’s antics on talkSPORT, he said: “Jhon Duran needs some careful managing. I’ve got to be honest, when teams are winning games, you can get away with anything.

“And I didn’t like the fact — this is a pundit speaking — that he came off the pitch, started kicking chairs, throwing his toys out the pram. And everybody laughs it off as, ‘Well, you’ve won, he’s scoring goals and it doesn’t matter’. It will matter down the line when Villa lose games and he does that.”

Despite being interested in him, Chelsea reportedly had concerns about Duran’s attitude.

Should Chelsea be put off by Jhon Duran’s antics?

Chelsea should not let a bit of frustration from Duran deter them from signing him if they do still retain an interest in the Colombia international.

Duran has shown this season that he is a centre-forward who is capable of coming up with big goals.

Chelsea may have missed their chance to sign him, though. It has now been claimed that Villa value Duran at £75m. It is hard to see them paying that, especially with the form that Nicolas Jackson is in.

Jackson has actually scored more Premier League goals than Duran this season, though the Senegal international has played way more minutes than the Villa man.
