Chris Sutton finds it remarkable that Chelsea could sell Conor Gallagher to Tottenham Hotspur this month.
Conor Gallagher continues to be heavily linked with a move to Tottenham. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio recently claimed that the north London club were in talks with Chelsea over a deal for the midfielder.
For Chris Sutton, who has been speaking on It’s All Kicking Off!, the thought of Chelsea selling someone who has been so important for them this season to Spurs is crazy.
Gallagher has only missed one Premier League game so far because of suspension.
The 23-year-old has also been captaining the team with both Reece James and Ben Chilwell out, showing how much Mauricio Pochettino trusts him.
Chris Sutton stunned by Conor Gallagher situation
Sutton is very surprised to hear that there is a possibility of Gallagher moving from Chelsea to Tottenham this month.
Discussing the Englishman, he said: “That is remarkable that we are talking about one of Chelsea’s best players moving to Tottenham in a January transfer window when you think of over the last 20 years. It shouldn’t work that way round should it really.
“I mean, Tottenham could sell their best player to Chelsea, but when was the last time something like this happened, then? I honestly can’t think of it. I mean, it’s quite staggering the thought of the Chelsea captain moving to Tottenham.
“If you’re a Chelsea supporter, at this moment in time, if you sell Conor Gallagher to Tottenham, you’re thinking what on earth’s going on and Todd Boehly is still making it up as he goes along.”

Chelsea should not sell Conor Gallagher to Tottenham
Chelsea would be foolish to let Gallagher join Tottenham this month. As mentioned earlier, he has obviously been a key player for Pochettino in the current campaign, while the Blues and Spurs are both competing for European football.
Why weaken yourselves and then strengthen your rivals? It makes little sense.
With Gallagher coming through the club’s academy, Chelsea can make pure profit from his sale. And if that is absolutely necessary to keep the Blues out of FFP trouble, then maybe it has to be done. But Tottenham should not be the club Chelsea do business with.
