The first team player Chelsea are expected to get rid of this month, they already have his replacement

Chelsea have not been as busy as many expected them to be so far during the January transfer window.

Obviously it is far more difficult to do business with other clubs midway through the season, however many thought that more would have come in than just the returning Trevoh Chalobah.

There has also been very little action involving exits from the club. Renato Veiga has agreed to make a move on a temporary basis after he makes the switch to Juventus on loan.

It feels as if there could be more members of the playing squad who could be sacrificed in order to allow space for new additions.

Axel Disasi expected to leave Chelsea in January

One player whose future isn’t looking so bright at the moment is Axel Disasi after it was reported that he has been told he is surplus to requirements at the club.

A number of clubs are reportedly interested in signing Disasi, although he featured on the pitch as recently as Monday night against Wolves.

Journalist Graeme Bailey has stated exclusively to The Chelsea Chronicle that there is a really good chance the Frenchman’s exit is on the cards before the window slams shut.

He said: “They’re open to business. Disasi’s been told he’s available. Disasi is someone who Villa have enquired about [in the past], so there are going to be plenty of options for Disasi, and there’s a good chance he can go this month on loan.”

The Blues would hope for a permanent sale this month, however may have to settle for a loan move where he has the chance to increase his value with regular minutes.

Chelsea have Axel Disasi replacement in Trevoh Chalobah

Despite Chelsea’s limited transfer activity this month, the fact that they have brought back who they have does not spell good news for Disasi.

Chalobah was player of the match against Wolves at Stamford Bridge last time out, and he will almost certainly be keeping his place for the trip to Manchester City this weekend.

Noni Madueke was quick to highlight leadership as something Chalobah has immediately brought to his new teammates.

While this was not a direct shot fired at Disasi, the defender has taken the armband at times during this campaign, and his leadership has never recieved any real praise.
