‘The only one’… Frank Leboeuf thinks 24-year-old Chelsea man was their only ‘great’ player last night

Conor Gallagher was the only Chelsea player to impress for the whole 90 minutes of last night’s victory over Crystal Palace.

That is according to ESPN pundit Frank Leboeuf.

Chelsea ran out 3-1 winners yesterday away to Palace in the Premier League, but it was very much a tale of two halves.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side trailed at half-time and managed just one shot during the opening 45 minutes. Thankfully, the Blues reacted in the second period with a much improved display and three goals.

Conor Gallagher, who scored twice on Monday night, reminded everyone of his importance.

The 24-year-old box-to-box midfielder simply loves playing at Selhurst Park.

Leboeuf singled out Chelsea’s Gallagher for special individual praise after the Palace victory.

“I want to congratulate Conor Gallagher, that guy had a great game for 90 minutes — maybe he was the only one to have done so,” Leboeuf told ESPN.

We’d argue no Chelsea player merited a pass mark solely based off the opening 45 minutes against Palace, so we’d have to disagree with Frank on this one.

However, Gallagher deserves immense praise for his second-half brace!

Gallagher’s mini purple patch of form in front of goal continued on Monday, so let’s hope that continues in the games ahead.

Fans love the energetic attacking midfielder for his commitment on the pitch, but it only increases the love for him if he’s contributing with more goals and assists.

Speaking via Sky Sports after the Palace win, Gallagher expressed his shock after hearing he ran 13km in the Premier League game.

It was the kind of display that makes a mockery of the transfer speculation that he could be sold and leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.

The Athletic recently claimed that it will take some turnaround for Gallagher to still be a Chelsea player next season.
