Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has had the chance to work with Jadon Sancho over this international break.

Jadon Sancho, who joined Chelsea from Manchester United on deadline day, was not called up for England’s games against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

It has given him the opportunity to settle in at Cobham and show Enzo Maresca what he is capable of.

Maresca has been impressed with Sancho and has been using him in one position so far.

Enzo Maresca has given indication of where Jadon Sancho could play this season

Sancho is a left winger, but the 24-year-old is also capable of operating on the opposite flank.

However, according to journalist Simon Phillips, Sancho has been playing on the left in training, which is perhaps an indication of where Maresca is going to use him.

On his Substack, he wrote: “In small sided games in training last week, coaching staff have picked Sancho on the left wing and that is where he’s been playing so far.”

Chelsea’s decision to sign Sancho baffled Ben Foster, but the England international could come in handy, especially if Mykhailo Mudryk continues to struggle at Stamford Bridge.

Jadon Sancho could become Chelsea’s first-choice left winger this season

Because of Mudryk’s struggles and Raheem Sterling’s exit, there is definitely an opportunity for Sancho to nail down the spot on the left.

The former has not been able to show any kind of consistency during his time in west London. Maresca has already called Mudryk out for a lack of quality.

Of course, another new signing, Pedro Neto, could prove to be a barrier to Sancho. But with the 24-year-old also able to play on the right like Sancho, there is no reason why Maresca cannot use him there and the former Borussia Dortmund man on the left.

The Chelsea manager could use a lot of different attacking combinations at Stamford Bridge this season. Exciting times could be ahead for supporters of the club.

They could get the chance to see Sancho in blue for the first time next Saturday when Chelsea take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
