‘The quickest’… Raheem Sterling says 22-year-old Chelsea player is as fast as Kyle Walker

Chelsea’s Armando Broja is as fast as Manchester City defender Kyle Walker.

That is according to Blues star Raheem Sterling.

Armando Broja, 22, is a highly-rated striker to come through the Blues academy at Cobham.

The young centre-forward is still on the books at Stamford Bridge and spent the first half of the season with Mauricio Pochettino’s group, but he was shipped out on loan to Fulham in January.

He’s trying to find his feet again after a long-term injury that derailed him earlier in his career, but he’s still got so many great attributes as a striker. In particular, he’s got bags of pace to frighten defences.

Chelsea winger Sterling, who’s a speedster himself, puts Broja alongside Walker in terms of quickness.

When asked his fastest ever teammate excluding Walker, Sterling told STATSports: “Leroy Sane or Armando [Broja]. I reckon Armando is there with Kyle [Walker] as the quickest.”

We rate Walker as one of the fastest footballers from the last decade, which really puts into perspective the turn of pace that Broja possesses.

We’re still holding out hope that Broja’s got a big future ahead of him.

He’s currently on the Fulham bench and out of luck right now, but he may only be a couple of goals away from his fortune turning and him fulfilling his big potential.

Speaking via Football.London in January, Joe Cole explained his wish for Broja to stay and develop at Chelsea. With hindsight, we can say that the Albania international should have stayed at Stamford Bridge in January and continued to fight for a starting position under Pochettino.

There’s no reason why he can’t return fresh for pre-season in the summer and work hard to get into the Blues side again.
